Formal learning and motor skills

I have been investigating the link between poor gross and fine motor skills and readiness for learning.  This came about when I noticed some children in my class that were using 2 hands to draw and mark make across a page.  This is commonly called crossing the midline.  From my ECE experience and knowledge I know that this is a specific and important skill children need to achieve to move into formal learning.  

I found some good reading about this, as well as ideas to support the child to cross the midline.
