Seed learning

Seed Learning - Lisa Smith.

This tool was designed to fill gaps with literacy learning and maths.

It is not a programme, a bunch of tools for teachers to increase teacher and student knowledge.

When teaching literacy it is important to think about literacy learning progressions.

Our job is teach and progress learning.

Rhyme is critical to know - if not secure in NE, then difficult for children to progress.

Exposure should be to all sounds not just to Z, important to include other sounds such as the a in cake.

On the Seed website, there is a series of videos/tools to be used in class.

Phonics is so important, it is the tip of the iceberg - everything is attached to phonics.

With you, preview, review - use the tools this way.

Fluency and mastery is the key to successful learning.

Once sounds mastered then onto code.

Letters don't make sounds.  We spell the letter.  What sound is that spelling.

If you teach sounds, then child can sound it out.

One thing at a time, over time.
